Two men have been arrested in Chumphon province for allegedly transporting 2.2 million methamphetamine pills in a concrete mixer truck headed from Chiang Mai to Hat Yai district of Songkhla. Pol Maj Gen Tanai said that police had received a tip-off that a truck with specific license plate numbers would be transporting a large quantity of drugs from the North to the South. Viewing it as unusual to transport cement from the North to the South, local police set up a checkpoint. When the vehicle stopped at a gas station, the police asked Mr Thanisorn, who was driving, to bring the truck to the checkpoint for a search. 1,100 packs of "yaba" methamphetamine -- a total of 2.2 million pills -- were found in backpacks hidden in the cement mixer.
